  • 1. Description

    Kyushu has so much to see and experience. There are many hot springs and  stunning natural environments and also a host of places to shop and have a great deal of fun. JR Kyushu (JR Kyushu Railway Company) operate the rail network that brings the area together. Their trains are highly rate for both comfort and design and are an excellent means of getting to see this amazing region.

    Features of the JR Kyushu Rail Pass
    You can ride as many times as you like throughout the designated Kyushu area, on both local and limited express trains. The All Kyushu Area Rail Pass can also be used for Kyushu  Shinkansen “Mizuho”, “Sakura” and “Tsubame” trains.

    Passes can be purchased to cover 2 different areas and bought as a 3 or 5 day pass:-
    Northern Kyushu Area – can be used on the Shinkansen between Hakata and Kumamoto (to purchase this pass click here)
    All Kyushu Area – The All Kyushu Pass can be used on the Shinkansen between Hakata and Kagoshima Chuo (this is the pass you are currently viewing).

  • 2. Eligibility

    So who is eligible for a Japan Rail Pass?

    You're eligible if you are a foreign tourist visiting Japan from abroad for sight-seeing, under the entry status of"Temporary Visitor".

    "Temporary Visitor"entry status, according to Japanese Immigration Law, allows a stay in Japan of 15 days or 90 days for "sight-seeing, etc." If you apply for a "stay for sight-seeing" when you enter Japan, entry personnel will stamp your passport as"Temporary Visitor,"as shownhere. Only people who have a passport bearing this stamp can use a Japan Rail Pass.

    IMPORTANT:Even if you visit Japan with an Exchange Order, to be turned in for aJapan Rail Pass, the exchange cannot be made unless you have"Temporary Visitor"status: if you enter Japan under any other official status, such as "Trainee," "Entertainer," or "Reentry Permit," you cannot change the Exchange Order for aJapan Rail Pass. Please note that according to strict interpretation of the Japanese Immigration Law,"Temporary Visitor"status differs even from other types of stays that are also for only short time periods.

    JR Kyushu Rail Passes cannot be purchased within Japan. Please be certain to purchase an exchange ticket at a point of sale (International Rail Ltd, etc.) outside Japan.

    * A child’s age is his or her age on the first day of using a JR Kyushu Rail Pass.



  • 5. Validity

    For the validity period of your pass you can ride as many times as you like throughout the designated Kyushu area, on local, limited express and Kyushu Shinkansen “bullet” trains.



  • 6. Terms and Conditions

    Only the person whose name is inscribed on the face of the pass can use it.
    The holder must carry a valid passport when using the pass.
    The pass can be used on limited express trains, Kyushu Shinkansen of the Kyushu Railway Co., in ordinary reserved and non-reserved seating, and on ordinary trains of the Kyushu Railway Co. in the designated area for the pass.
    The pass cannot be used on sleeper trains, the Sanyo Shinkansen “bullet” train, or JR Kyushu buses.
    If the holder travels on a Green Car, the Green Car charge will be assessed in addition to the ordinary express charge. The pass cannot be used for private compartments.
    The pass cannot be used for fares on connecting or other train lines not operated by Kyushu Railway Co.
    The holder will be required to pay applicable fares incurred as a result of riding beyond the designated area for this pass.
    No refund can be made even if there are no available reserved seats and the holder must use non-reserved seating.
