Experience the adventure of train travel
With
its soaring, snow-capped mountains, thermal springs, rich Maori culture and
bustling urban centres, New Zealand is
the holiday destination that has it all – and with the Scenic Rail Pass in your
pocket you can travel through this gorgeous country at your own place.
Start
on the North Island in cosmopolitan Auckland, and you can make your way down to
riverside Hamilton, just 40 miles west of Matamata (the home of Hobbiton). From
there, follow the route south to Wellington, the island’s capital and cultural
hub. Venture across the Cook Strait on the Interislander Ferry and you’ll be
able to swim with dolphins at Kaikoura, tour Christchurch’s pretty scenery and
explore the South Island’s western coast from Greymouth.
Part
of being on holiday is knowing you can do what you want, whenever you want. So
the Scenic Rail Pass is perfect. It allows you to hop on and off any long
distance train service, at any station, or the Interislander ferry, as many
times as you like for the duration of your pass. Rail passes offer excellent
value for money and the more you travel, the better value they become.
Choose
a fixed term pass for 7, 14 or 21 days and get unlimited travel on long
distance scenic train services, as well as the Interislander ferry. This is
perfect if you want to explore over 1-3 weeks, and want to be able to use the
train on any of these days.
Your
pass begins from the first day you use it, and you can book you trips online or
by phoning 0800 250 000 (in New Zealand). To ensure there's a seat for you,
you'll need to book 24 hours prior to travelling.
Don’t
forget that this pass isn’t your only option; International Rail can offer a
wide variety of alternative rail passes and rail tickets. If
you’d like to know more contact
us today.
